Fish Fight

We sat there without flinching as a bas the size of “Jaws” was swimming around its spawning ground.  It swam in circles while it chased the blue gills which looked telescopic compared to the massive creature.  Brandon and I fought over the size of the fish.  He thought it was five pounds and 19 inches, and I thought it was six pounds and pounds and 19 inches.  So after sitting there, I stopped arguing and threw my worm into the water.   Right as the worm hit the water the mini-waves of the ripple scared the monster away.  But, I did not give up. I tried to irritate it by wiggling the worm around its territory like one of the blue gills.  Right that second, the fish appeared out of the brown murky water like a flash. Figuring this was a smart fish; we started to set the worm right in the middle of its nest and started to jerk the loose rubble in the nest.  Then, the fish got fed up and struck at the bait.  The giant fish bit the hook, and I yanked the pole.  I sat there fighting the fish for three minutes, then five minutes, then ten minutes.  Right then, the fish jumped up and broke through the water like a bullet crashing through glass.  Brandon jumped off the ledge and grabbed the fish by the mouth.  Guess what- I was wrong- it was exactly 5 pounds and 19 inches.  It was a nice fish.

This was just a little short that i decided to
write about to show how much i love fishing,
and what i catch when i am doing it.

Boogy Man

As the lights go out
he scurries bout,
from house to house he sends out a shout.
this shout so jagged it files the with fear,

Ten Ways To Look At Water

Among the whole life filled
forrest the only thing s
till was a was a drop of water
upon a leaf

Water of
the ocean
as blue
as my eyes

The water
reflecting the gargantuan shafts
of sun dramatically emerging through
the branches

One drop
two drops
three,water
splashes on the ground

Water moving so gentle
quietly being carried along
seconds hearing the water run wild
bringing moments of peace

Water can hold the deadliest creatures
and not be affected
some water will get you sick
and some water will trick you

From the beginning of time water fell from
the sky
helping the plants grow, cured the thirst
of adam and eve

The seas swell and rush violently
overtaking the boat
and all inside it
water fills it

Then the salty fills the wood
with seaweed
that has even symmetrical lines
with air sacs at their ends

A flowing mirror
the water turns
him quicaly into
a insane narcissist

Memoirs

I remember my little red tricycle that i always was riding on. It was all red with yellow handles and peddles.i remember on the red frame there was painted pictures of all of the loony tunes.

I remember my antie Liz, she would always give me the quarters that she would win in the slot machines. When she came to visit from LA all she loved to do was be with family and play slots.

I remember when ever i was at my dads house, before i woke up i would always hear him cleaning the dishes in the kitchen. He did this the always made us breakfast, always my favorite banana pancakes.
The Cell Phone Speaks

I get poked and poked and poked.
its hurts me.
its the worst when i belong to a young person
old people dont know how to use me.
Still i just get used.
its a one sided relationship
i get poked when they text on me,
they never ask to see if im ok
also they never talk to me.
they talk through me.
i am a person too, i have feelings...

A Kid At Heart

He sits on the stoop
in his old rocking chair.
he sits with the same sad stare.
wishing he was a kid again,
with his long blond hair.
But now its bald and covered with a hat.
as he sits on the stoop,
in his old rocking chair.
watching the kids play games,
as he did, when he was a kid.
To run and play tag, and stick ball once again.
he would pay through the nose for that one last grin.
but he cant thats not how it works there..
so he sits  on his stoop, in his old rocking chair.
wishing he was a kid once again
with that that sad, sad stare

Why I’m Not a Poet

I play sports I’m not supposed
To talk about my feelings
Right?
I’m supposed to be big and
Tough, not soft and writing all
About my feelings right?
Plus I’m not that good at poetry, but
Sports I’m really good at.
Only if I could right my thoughts
Down on a page as well as
I could catch a ball or high jump.
“Come to practice” says my coach
“Practice and you could get a scholarship”
My problem with poetry is that I don’t practice
Like I practice for sports, imagine if I did.
I could be good…. Right
But that is why I’m not a poet.

Why I’m not a Poet Analysis
This poem started off as a conversation poem, but as I went on I realized that I couldn’t really think of a way to put a conversation into the poem I was writing. So what I ended up doing was put random little pieces of dialog into the poem were it fit. Also when I typed it out I changed the format of the poem and decided to center it because I thought I would look nicer.

JP Saves Legonia
Once upon a time, there was this super cool kid who grew up to be a policeman.  His name was JP. He was the strongest and toughest police man there ever was.  The way he fought crime was not with a gun, but with his karate skills.  He would karate chop and kick every villain that tried to rob a bank or commit any sort of crime.  He was Walnut Creek's hero and everyone loved him for keeping the town safe.
One day when JP was hanging out with his friends, the Power Rangers, the President walked up to JP and asked them for help.  He told JP that the very peaceful Lego people on planet Legonia were being attacked by the very violent Bionical people that lived on the other side of the planet. The Bionical people had always tried to take over the Lego people and take their land. The President told JP that he was going to be sent to the planet Legonia to stop this fight before the evil Bionicals took over.
JP packed all his clothes for his very long voyage; he even remembered to pack his pet hamster, Steven. JP arrived at NASA and got on the space ship; he sat in the seat and waited. The count off began: FIVE-FOUR-THREE-TWO-ONE, and the spaceship shot into the air with great speed.  JP soared through space, passing planet after planet, and after two days he arrived at Planet Legonia.
He got off the ship and was greeted by the all of Legonian people and their king.  He was told by the king where he could find the king of the Bionical people and was told to go to the dark side of the planet.  JP made sure his hamster was safe and then was off to find the evil ruler and stop this war.  JP arrived at a tall dark castle and walked inside, he was greeted by guards of the Bionical ruler.  JP explained that he needed to talk to the king, and they brought him to the king. The king laughed when JP asked him nicely to leave the Lego people alone.  JP started to get upset with the evil king, so he challenged the king to a battle, explaining that the king could choose any one of his soldiers to go up against him in a fight.  JP told the king if he won, the Bionicals would have to leave forever and never come back. The king looked at JP and asked what he would get if he won. JP exclaimed that he would leave the planet, and the evil king could have Planet Legonia.  The king agreed, and the fight was scheduled for later that day. JP went back to the Legonian people to get ready for the fight.
Later that day, JP walked back to the castle for the fight.  On the front court yard of the castle there was a giant open space the Bionicals had set up for the fight. JP walked to middle of the ring and waited. Out walked the biggest, most humongous warrior Bionical ever, who was followed by a crowd of Bionicals.  JP waited to hear the rules, but as he was waiting, he was hit with a cheap shot in the gut by the Bionical fighter.  JP jumped up and karate chopped the Bionical, who stumbled back.  JP ran over to him and karate chopped him right in his heart. The massive Bionical came crashing down.  All the rest of the Bionicals stood stunned.  They had never seen one of their warrior Bionicals loose in a battle.  Scared, all of the Bionicals got in their ship and never came back.  JP was crowned a hero by the people of Legonia.
JP arrived home to a hero's welcome; he was congratulated and thanked by the President for his bravery and karate skills.  Standing next to the President was JP’s sensei; he awarded JP his black belt and gave him the title of Master Martial Artist.  JP was happy with all of the thanks and gratitude, but all he really wanted to do was go home and sleep.  So, he grabbed his hamster, Steve, and went home.

BEN: Five years. Ben continues to look at the floor.
SVEN: Extends his had to Ben. The names Sven.
BEN: Sakes his hand with a limp squeeze. Hi I'm Ben.

The elevator grows quiet, both men stair at the numbers as each flash in numerical order. They were almost there al floor thirteen when The elevator stopped between floors. Both Ben and Sven looked up and at each other.

Ben looks up and shakes his head yes. They both turn and walk to their rooms and look abck at the same time. Both twin brothers walk their separate way and never talk again.
Letter to the Reader
Over all I don’t really think I'm a good poet or a good writer. No matter how much I practice writing poetry I don’t really feel like I get any better. The thing is I don’t really like poetry, it’s just not my thing, and I don’t really enjoy it. I think because I don’t particularly like writing poetry that is why I'm not that good at it. I think that to really be good at something you must also enjoy it or you will never push yourself to be good. The poems I chose for this anthology project were the poems that I thought were the best out of the whole lot of them. I found out that most of the best poems I wrote were about things I liked and really cared about. Even though I gripe and moan about writing poetry I found this project and class to be quite interesting and fun most of the time because of the fun projects that always made us think and the atmosphere. I hope you enjoy my poems that I have selected for my anthology project.

How to High Jump
Wham, Wham, Wham
The three heavy pads
The ground as you set up.
You line them up just right,
So they snap into place.
Next the standards get set up
So you can place
The bar up.
Once this is done
The athlete is ready to jump,
He must find his mark, and
Run toward the pit.
The they jump up and over the bar, but…
Bam, Bam, Bam
Your heel hits the bar to the floor.
It gets set back up again, the next time you jump
You make it over with ease, and that is
How to high jump,
How to High Jump Analysis
This poem was especially fun to write because I high jump. When I go to practice this is almost exactly how it goes. It’s kind of funny I wrote this poem act my high jump practice; I had the paper pen and my binder and was running through the whole motion with it in my hands so it would be perfect. It was really fun to write this poem because of that.
